Bentley OpenUtilities CONNECT Edition Help

Initialize Network Trace

The network is initialized automatically when the trace dialog is first invoked; however, changes to the network often requires reloading and re-initializing the network to ensure valid network trace analysis results.

Before commencing with a trace operation after changes to the network have occurred, the network connectivity model must be initialized by setting the name of the network, setting the name of the stop condition set, and pressing the Initialize button.

Note: The Use Fence option can be toggled on to limit the network trace to the network area covered by the active fence.

For the Gas Industry Standard Data Model, the following networks options are pre-configured for trace operations:

  • Gas

For the Gas trace option, the following stop conditions are pre-configured:

  • None - no stop conditions
  • Stop at Valve - stops at isolation devices
    • Valves, Controllable Fittings, and Pressure Reducing Valves
  • Stop at Closed Valve - stops at isolated boundaries as defined by these devices
    • All Valves with operating status value of Closed
    • All Controllable Fittings with operating status value of Closed
    • All Pressure Reducing Values with operating status value of Closed
Note: The Network Trace engine is configurable with numerous network trace options and stop conditions using the Bentley OpenUtilities Model Administrator. Default behaviors can also be modified and/or extended using MicroStation VBA or any Language that supports COM.
